Constraints and buildability

Baseline

The gross AOI is the baseline for acreage and percentage calculations.

Exclusion processing

For each enabled constraint with usable source geometry:

1. Query features relevant to the AOI.
2. Apply the configured buffer to linear infrastructure where required.
3. Intersect the result with the AOI.
4. Combine all valid exclusion geometries.
5. Remove the combined exclusion from the AOI once.

Conceptually:

Buildable = AOI − Union(enabled exclusions within AOI)
Buildable % = Buildable area / Baseline AOI area × 100

This prevents overlapping wetlands, roadway buffers, and infrastructure buffers from being subtracted multiple times.

Slope

When enabled and available, terrain is classified using the configured maximum slope. Slope output depends on terrain availability, resolution, projection, and the user’s permitted ArcGIS capabilities.

Hex classification

Hexes summarize spatial suitability for display and exploration. Classification is derived from the modeled buildable result; it is not an independent acreage calculation.

Setbacks and buffers

SiteIQ uses scenario buffers as screening parameters. They are not universal legal setbacks. Required setbacks vary by jurisdiction, asset, voltage or pressure, easement, operator policy, project type, and site-specific approvals.
