Constraints

Constraints identify mapped portions of the AOI that should be excluded from the current screening scenario.

Depending on deployment and data availability, controls can include:

• Wetlands
• Protected areas
• Natural-gas pipelines and buffer distance
• Roadways and buffer distance
• Electric transmission lines and buffer distance
• Maximum slope

Run constraints

1. Define an AOI.
2. Enable only the policies applicable to the scenario.
3. Set buffer distances and the maximum slope.
4. Select Run constraints.
5. Review removed acreage and the constraint breakdown.

Buffers remove land only where the mapped feature and its configured buffer intersect the AOI. Overlapping exclusions are unioned so the same land is not subtracted more than once.

Turning a constraint off excludes it from the next run; it does not assert that the feature is absent.
